If you've ever wished you could surf a longboard down the prom, this is it. Hamboards are big, wide, beautifully made boards that ride more like a surfboard than a skateboard. You lean them right over onto the rail, walk the deck, cross-step to the nose and draw out turns the way you would on a clean little wave.
For a lot of our customers, especially paddleboarders and longboard surfers, that's exactly the point. A Hamboard keeps your stance, balance and footwork dialled through the winter, when the sea isn't playing ball. We now stock the Hamboards range at Môr: complete boards, decks, HST trucks, wheels, spares and skate poles.
The secret sauce: HST trucks
Most of the range rides on Hamboards' patented HST trucks. Instead of rubber bushings, they use a spring-loaded "wave cam" that lets the board lean up to 30° and then pushes it back upright. The result is a deep, smooth, surfy rail-to-rail feel that's hard to get any other way. Tall riser blocks keep the wheels clear of those wide decks, so there's no wheel bite when you really lay it over.
HST baseplates come in four pivot angles: 55°, 40°, 20° and 0°. A bigger angle turns more. Most boards come in one of two tried-and-tested setups:
| Setup | Feel | Best for |
|---|---|---|
|
55° front / 20° rear "Pump & Glide" |
Effortless pumping, a smooth glide down the line, and a stable back end | Beginners to intermediates, footwork and cross-stepping practice |
|
40° front / 40° rear "Dig & Carve" |
Equal turn front and back. Throw the tail like you're hitting the lip. | Intermediate to expert riders who want deep, aggressive carves |
Which Hamboard is right for you?
The range runs from a 24" pocket rocket to a 6'2" bamboo log. As a rough guide, the longer the board, the more it rides like a longboard surfboard. Shorter boards feel snappier and more like a shortboard.
| Board | Length | Feels like | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Biscuit | 24" | A tiny, packable shorty | Carrying anywhere. Note: standard RKP trucks, not HST |
| Corey Lopez Twisted Fin | 26" | A competition surf trainer | Experienced surfers working on tail whips and blow-tails |
| The Burst | 32" | Part longboard, part surfskate | Fast pumping and hard carving with a kicktail |
| The Pescadito | 43" | A swallow-tail fish | A compact, responsive all-rounder |
| The Huntington Hop | 45" | A vintage beach cruiser | Cruising, carving, an easy first Hamboard |
| The Fish | 4'5" | A performance fish surfboard | Pop-ups, snapping the tail, drop-knee turns |
| The Logger | 5' | A flexy, snowboard-like longboard | Carving at speed, weaving, nose-riding |
| The Pinger | 5'7" | A classic North Shore pintail | Footwork, cross-stepping, noseriding |
| The Classic | 6'2" | A true longboard surfboard | Walking the board, hang heels, longboard surfers and SUP surfers |

SUP on land: skate poling
This is the one our paddleboarders get excited about. Skate poling (or "land paddling") means you stand on a long board and propel yourself with a pole that has a rubber tip on the end. It's the same stroke, the same core rotation and the same switching of sides as SUP. It's low-impact, great exercise, and it works in weather that would keep you off the water.
Hamboards 60" Endurance – All Star
£399.95
Purpose-built for distance pushing, pumping and poling. HST 55° front and 0° rear for maximum pump.
Street Sweeper Pro Skate Pole
£159.95
Carbon/fibreglass shaft with a comfortable flex. Adjustable, in three sizes to suit your height.
On a budget? The Street Sweeper pole is £119.95, and replacement Poi Pounder and Poi Mini tips are available when yours wears down.
Tune your ride: upgrades and spares
One of the best things about HST trucks is how much you can tweak them. Here are the upgrades worth knowing about:
- HST Flow Kit: a compression bushing inside the spring for a more stable, connected feel. Probably the single biggest upgrade you can make.
- Gold Spring Kit: about 25% more return force, which suits heavier riders or anyone who wants a firmer board.
- Baseplates in 55°, 40° and 20°, to change your setup.
- Wheels: Hamboards' signature chocolate wheels in 66mm, 83mm and 90mm. Bigger rolls over rough tarmac more easily.
- Wave Cam Lubricant and San-O bearings to keep everything running smoothly. Sea air is hard on moving parts.
- Complete HST Truck Set: put HST trucks on your own deck.
Hamboards FAQs
Are Hamboards surfskates?
Some are, but most are really surf-style longboards. The big Hamboards are wide, heavy and stable, and the HST trucks let them lean right over like a surfboard on a rail. The 32" Burst and 26" Corey Lopez Twisted Fin are the closest thing to a classic surfskate in the range.
Which HST setup is easiest for beginners?
The 55°/20° flow setup. It pumps easily and the rear truck keeps things stable, so it's very forgiving while you learn footwork. The 40°/40° carve setup is looser and more aggressive, and better once you're confident.
Can I change the truck setup later?
Yes. HST baseplates are sold separately in 55°, 40°, 20° and 0°, so you can try a different feel without buying a new board.
What's the difference between a Hamboard and a Carver?
Carver surfskates are shorter, more compact boards built around a pivoting front truck, so they're great for tight pumping and shortboard-style turns. Hamboards are generally much bigger and wider, and feel more like riding a longboard or a SUP. Plenty of riders end up with one of each.
Is skate poling good SUP training?
It's brilliant for it. The stroke, the core rotation and the footwork are all very close to paddling, and you can do it on dry land all winter. Pair an Endurance board with a Street Sweeper Pro pole to get started.
