AFS Blackbird Mid Length Carbon — The Mid Length Experience

Born from expertise developed in the world of downwind, the Blackbird Mid-Length pushes the boundaries of board design. By reinterpreting the principles of downwind boards to meet the demands of wingfoiling, AFS have created a board capable of combining quick take-off in light winds, exceptional glide and manoeuvrability.

Inspired by the original Blackbird — a true innovation in the downwind world — the Mid Length's optimised length-to-width ratio lets it excel in light conditions and small swells, offering precise control and rapid take-off even with smaller foils.

Driven by the model's success, the Blackbird Mid Length range now offers six sizes: 5'2, 5'4, 5'6, 5'8, 6'0, 6'3 — serving more rider profiles and riding programmes than ever.

Ultra-premium carbon construction

A carbon layup, fully rethought. Delivers 21% more lightness and 10% better impact resistance, thanks to an epoxy gel coat — a resin that lightens the construction without sacrificing stiffness. Sharper transmission and responsiveness, less sensitive to everyday knocks. A 6'0 is now around 1 kg lighter than last year's model.

Sizes & colourways

Available in Blue or White across all six sizes. Note: the smaller sizes (5'2–5'6) use AFS's new Trench layup; the larger sizes use the standard AFS Advanced or Flush layup — same shape, refined for each length. A Black colourway is also available on the 5'6 / 6'0 / 6'3 sizes — get in touch if you'd prefer Black.
