Description
The Armstrong APF Pump Front Foil is the pump foiler's specialist wing — the same Armie Armstrong / Chris Porter-designed foil that ships in the APF Foil Kits, available standalone for riders who already have an Armstrong A+ System setup and just want to add the APF wing to their quiver. Ultra-low stall speeds, incredible stability and high efficiency — the pump foil that's redefined how far you can go with how little effort.
Three sizes (APF 1350 / 1675 / 1880) cover lighter riders through heavier specialists. Fully compatible with the Armstrong A+ System. From £909. Free UK postage.
The Pump Foil That Redefined Flight Time
Product overview
The Armstrong Pump Foil (APF) range delivers ultra-low stall speeds, incredible stability and high efficiency to take you further with less effort than ever. Co-designed by Armie Armstrong and aerospace engineer Chris Porter, the APF is purpose-built for pump foiling and light downwinding — not a compromise wing pressed into pump duty.
The APF's design DNA is rooted in efficient performance at low speeds thanks to a nearly straight leading edge, forward-swept trailing edge, wide wingspan, and high-camber foil section. Downturned wing tips reduce drag further, improving your potential to go the distance.
Key features
Easy to fly with ultra-low stall speeds. The defining APF characteristic. Gives you forgiveness in early pumping sessions and lets you cruise at relaxed cadence once you're flying.
Pitch stable. Helps you build a natural pumping cadence — the foil holds its glide, you provide the rhythm.
Co-designed with aerospace engineer Chris Porter. Not a marketing line — the APF was engineered with deliberate aerospace input alongside Armie Armstrong's foiling expertise.
High-camber foil section. Thick, high-camber profile optimised for low speeds. Excellent low-end lift, energy-efficient pumping.
Wide wingspan, downturned tips. Outline tuned for maximum glide. Downturned tips reduce drag.
Armstrong A+ System compatibility. Pairs with every Armstrong mast, fuselage and stabiliser.
Size guide
APF 1350. The smallest of the APF range — designed alongside the larger sizes for lighter riders chasing pump foiling, or anyone of any weight wanting more speed and glide than the 1675. Shares HA-derived outer-section design for greater average glide speed.
APF 1675. The recommended starting size for most pump foilers under 90 kg. Broadest usable range across the APF lineup. The right pick if you're unsure.
APF 1880. Maximum lift / endurance — heavier riders over 90 kg, or anyone wanting the absolute lowest stall speed and biggest low-end lift the APF range offers.

Honest advice from us
Buy the APF front foil on its own if:
- You already own an Armstrong A+ System mast, fuselage and stabiliser (most likely an HA or MA MkII setup) and want to add pump-specific performance.
- You want to swap between an HA / MA front wing and an APF depending on conditions.
- You're a committed pump foiler buying replacement / second foils.
Buy the full APF Foil Kit (also stocked) if you're new to Armstrong — the kit pairs the front foil with the right mast (72 cm Alloy), fuselage (TC60) and the discipline-matched stabiliser (Speed 180 for the 1350, Pump 202 for the 1675/1880). Better value if you're starting from scratch.
Stabiliser pairing reminder. The standalone APF front foil ships without a stabiliser. For pump foiling we recommend the Pump 202 with the 1675/1880, or the Speed 180 with the 1350.
About pump foiling in North Wales. The flatwater stretches around Rhos on Sea, Penmaenmawr and Red Wharf Bay are ideal APF sessions — there's no shortage of suitable spots when the wind drops below winging range. Call us on 01492 588001 for sizing advice.
About Armstrong
Armstrong is a New Zealand foil company founded by Armie Armstrong, a pioneering windsurfer and watersports innovator. Armstrong's modular A+ System has set the industry standard for foil compatibility — front wings, masts, fuselages and stabilisers all interconnect across the Armstrong range, meaning riders can progress from S1 (Step 1) beginner foils through to HA (High Aspect) racing foils without replacing their mast or board fittings. Built in Thailand at Armstrong's own facility, designed in New Zealand, ridden by world-class athletes including Austin Tovey, Noah Flegel and Annie Reickert.
Môr Watersports is an authorised Armstrong dealer in North Wales — we hold stock, offer demo sessions where conditions allow, and ship across the UK with free postage.
