Description
The Armstrong HA (High Aspect) range is the foil that's redefined what high-aspect designs can do — combining the rippability you'd expect from a low-aspect surf foil with the endless glide of a race wing, plus genuine low-speed lift that makes it accessible across surf, wing and downwind disciplines. The result of two years of research with a leading hydrofoil sailboat CFD team, refined under the feet of Armstrong's team riders.
The HA v2 Foil Kit pairs your chosen HA front foil with Armstrong's Performance MkII 865 mm Carbon Mast, a TC60 (23.6") fuselage, and the Speed 180 stabiliser — the premium setup recommended by Armstrong for getting the most out of the HA range. Eight sizes from a 480 cm² speed-focused performer to an 1180 cm² downwind glider. Complete kits from £3,119. Free UK postage.
Combining Rippability, Easy Pumping, And Endless Glide
Product overview
Building on the legacy of Armstrong's first HA (high aspect) foils initially released in 2021, the new HA range offers an unprecedented combination of rippability, easy pumping and endless glide that expands the potential of intermediate to expert surf, downwind and wing foilers.
Eight sizes — 480, 580, 680, 780, 880, 980, 1080, 1180 cm² — deliver a full quiver of options. The new HA range is the essence of foiling.
The HA sets the bar for high-aspect front foils. From its glide and stability at high speed, to a telekinesis-like feel through turns and remarkable low-speed lift, the way this front foil brings everything together is truly unique. Design parameters like section shape, outline, rondure and profile were developed by a leading CFD team and refined under the feet of Armstrong's team riders.
Key features
Best of both worlds. A newly developed section shape, outline and profile give the HA range a remarkable "best of both worlds" ability to carve beautiful lines and easily stay high in the pumping power zone for maximum wave-riding potential.
Evolutive section shape. The foil section is adjusted incrementally at points across the wingspan (evolutive section shape) to provide a big boost to gliding efficiency and consistent lift at various bank angles and flight speeds.
Responsive turning. Enables responsive turning in carves, even at wider wingspans. Excellent lift means riders can drop down one full size from their previous HA foils for improved carving and speed range while maintaining an easy low end.
Toray carbon construction. Built from premium Toray high and intermediate modulus carbon fibre for exceptional stiffness and light weight.
A+ System compatibility. Armstrong's proprietary connection system offers industry-leading strength, durability and modularity — the HA kit's mast, fuselage and stabiliser work with every other Armstrong front foil.
CFD-engineered. Meticulously engineered to push your fun on the water. The HA range benefits from two years of research with a leading CFD team in the hydrofoil sailboat world.

Front foil size guide
HA 480 / HA 580. Smaller wings for advanced and light riders chasing speed, tight carving and aerial work. The HA 580 is the speed-focused all-rounder of the smaller sizes.
HA 680 / HA 780. Efficient performance foils for confident intermediates through to expert riders — well-balanced for surf and wing in moderate-to-strong wind.
HA 880 / HA 980. All-rounders that combine glide, pumpability and forgiving low-end. Most all-round riders 75–95 kg start here.
HA 1080 / HA 1180. Maximum lift for lighter winds, downwind, larger riders or anyone stepping up from the S1 range. Massive low-end glide with the HA carving DNA intact.

Honest advice from us
The HA range is the foil for committed foilers who've already established the basics — not a beginner kit (S1 is for that) and not a pump-foil specialist (the APF range covers pure pumping). The HA's strength is the all-disciplines versatility at a high performance level — surf, wing, downwind and even some pump foiling all benefit from the HA's carving / glide / low-speed-lift combination.
Which HA size? Armstrong's general guidance for the new HA range: riders can drop down one full size from their previous HA foils for improved carving without losing the easy low end. Without prior Armstrong experience, a rough weight-based starting point:
- HA 580 for advanced/light riders chasing speed
- HA 680 / 780 for intermediate-advanced riders under 75 kg
- HA 880 / 980 for most all-round riders 75–95 kg
- HA 1080 / 1180 for heavier riders, downwinders, or anyone wanting maximum low-end lift
About the A+ System. The HA kit's mast, fuselage and stabiliser are fully compatible with all Armstrong front foils — so when you eventually want to add an MA MkII for carving or an APF for pump sessions, you only need the front wing, not a whole new kit.
About this kit in North Wales. The variety of conditions across Rhos on Sea, Penmaenmawr, Red Wharf Bay and the Anglesey north coast all suit different HA sizes — the HA range's strength is having the right wing for whatever's working that day. About Armstrong
Armstrong is a New Zealand foil company founded by Armie Armstrong, a pioneering windsurfer and watersports innovator. Armstrong's modular A+ System has set the industry standard for foil compatibility — front wings, masts, fuselages and stabilisers all interconnect across the Armstrong range, meaning riders can progress from S1 (Step 1) beginner foils through to HA (High Aspect) racing foils without replacing their mast or board fittings. Built in Thailand at Armstrong's own facility, designed in New Zealand, ridden by world-class athletes including Austin Tovey, Noah Flegel and Annie Reickert.
