The Dream Carving Machine
Product overview
It's been described like riding the freshest Japanese powder on a bluebird day, or a hot knife through butter — a foiling experience like no other. The evolution of the Mid Aspect front foil takes your flow to the next level by combining ultra forgiving pitch stability, an incredibly broad speed range, and seamless rail-to-rail carving. Whether it's winging or surfing, the MA MkII is the dream carving machine.
Key features
Incredible pitch stability. The MA MkII gives you total control for winging and surf foiling progression. For intermediates, the MA MkII is more forgiving than the HA with rock-solid stability and consistent lift that will boost your confidence and ability to tackle powered conditions. Advanced riders benefit from how stable the MA MkII is when landing manoeuvres or pushing hard in critical conditions.
Broad speed range. This foil section has evolved to deliver a greatly lowered takeoff speed on par with the HA while maintaining a top speed capability similar to the first generation MA, all while recovering instantly from breaches. This makes the MA MkII ready for everything from winging to prone and tow surfing.
Narrower span for a seamless roll feel. The narrower span of the mid-aspect outline gives the MA MkII a quick, seamless roll rate and super-fluid carving feel. All sizes are 8.0 AR oriented at carving at higher speeds with increased pump and glide that's perfect for surfing and a dream when carving.
Performance and durability. Foils experience extreme torsional and bending loads, which is why the MA MkII is crafted from premium pre-preg Toray high-modulus carbon fibre. The result: an ultra-strong, stiff and lightweight foil that performs exceptionally.
Surf MkII stabiliser. The Surf MkII Stabiliser was designed alongside the MA MkII front foil for a stabiliser that boosts your flow, control and speed range across foiling disciplines. Each MA MkII front foil size ships with the recommended Surf MkII size pre-paired (see kit contents below).
A+ System compatibility. Armstrong's proprietary foil assembly design joins the mast, fuselage, front foil and stabiliser together for a solid, smooth feeling on the water. Fully compatible with the wider Armstrong foil ecosystem.

Honest advice from us
The MA MkII is a premium-tier foil — at £3,119+ this isn't an impulse purchase. It's the foil for committed wing foilers, prone surfers and tow surfers who already understand foiling fundamentals and want a foil that excels at carving and rail-to-rail flow.
Coming from another foil? Armstrong's guidance for sizing from an HA foil to MA MkII:
- If you want the same bottom-end / stall speed / comfort as your HA but with more carving and pitch stability, go up one size in the MA MkII (e.g. HA 880 → MA MkII 990).
- If you want to trade a bit of bottom end for substantially more responsive carving in powered conditions, pick the closest size (e.g. HA 880 → MA MkII 890).
- If you're coming from a first-gen MA, the MkII has a much-improved bottom end / stall speed / comfort — you can drop down one size from your original MA.
Coming fresh without an Armstrong foil to reference? A rough weight guide:
- MA MkII 590 / 690 for committed lighter riders (under 70 kg) focused on prone or carving wing
- MA MkII 790 / 890 for intermediate-advanced riders 70–90 kg
- MA MkII 990 / 1190 for heavier riders or anyone wanting maximum low-end lift
- MA MkII 1390 for the lightest wind sessions or heavy-rider downwind crossover
