Description
The Frank Mako is AXIS's dedicated downwind carbon foilboard — long, narrow, and built for the very specific job of paddle-up or stash-and-glide downwind foiling. Carbon construction keeps the weight down where every kilo counts (you're paddling these into a swell to take off), and the long, narrow outline makes paddling efficient and take-off smoother.
Available in four volumes from 100L to 130L, the size you want depends mostly on rider weight and how strong your paddle-up technique is. Heavier riders or those still developing the paddle-up will appreciate the extra volume of the 120 or 130; lighter riders with confident technique can drop down to the 110 or 100 for a more responsive feel once on the foil.

Who it's for
Downwind foilers — paddle-up and stash-and-glide riders chasing swell and bumps along the coast. Parawingers wanting a board they can use either to launch from the wing or to glide between sets. Anyone serious about downwind progression.
Honest advice from us
Downwind boards are the most size-sensitive boards in foiling — too small and you can't get going, too big and the board fights you on the foil. As a rough guide: rider weight (kg) + 20–30L is a sensible volume target for paddle-up downwind. Drop a bit if you're using a wing or parawing to launch. Call 01492 588001 if you'd like a steer based on your weight, conditions and approach.
