Description
The Sooruz Open Palm Mittens 2mm are the warmth-of-mittens / feel-of-gloves middle ground — neoprene covering the back of your hand and fingers, but the palm is left exposed (or very thinly covered) so you can still grip a paddle, board rail, or rope properly. The H22 / 2022 model is on clearance — single XL variant left.

Size chart
Sooruz gloves use S/M/L/XL sizing based on hand width. Measure across your palm at the widest point (just below your knuckles), with your hand flat.

When to wear cold-water accessories
- Thin gloves (1.5mm) — UK water 14-18°C. Spring/autumn shoulder seasons; warm-water travel for dexterity.
- Open-palm mittens (2mm) — UK water 8-14°C. Better warmth than full-finger gloves while preserving palm-feel for paddle/rope/board grip.
- Standard gloves (3mm) — UK water 6-12°C. Full UK winter cold-water spec for surf/SUP/swim.
- Hood (2mm) — UK water below 12°C. Heat loss through the head is significant; a hood extends your cold-water session length dramatically.
- Beanie (2mm neoprene) — UK water 10-15°C, or open-water swim use where a hood is too restrictive. Maintains warmth without full head coverage.
- Thermo rash vest (under wetsuit) — adds an extra warmth layer under any wetsuit; also worn over the top in mid-summer for sun protection and chafe-prevention.

Open-palm mittens are a brilliant in-between for paddlers and kayakers who need to maintain grip on a paddle, rope, or board rail but can't get on with full-finger gloves.
