The Sooruz Session Hood 2mm (H22 / 2022 model) is a proper cold-water neoprene hood — full head and neck coverage at the thickness Sooruz designed for UK winter. Significant heat loss happens through the head; adding a hood extends your cold-water session length dramatically. Stretch panel at the back for comfortable head movement; sealed neck/face opening to keep cold water out.

When to wear cold-water accessories
- Thin gloves (1.5mm) — UK water 14-18°C. Spring/autumn shoulder seasons; warm-water travel for dexterity.
- Open-palm mittens (2mm) — UK water 8-14°C. Better warmth than full-finger gloves while preserving palm-feel for paddle/rope/board grip.
- Standard gloves (3mm) — UK water 6-12°C. Full UK winter cold-water spec for surf/SUP/swim.
- Hood (2mm) — UK water below 12°C. Heat loss through the head is significant; a hood extends your cold-water session length dramatically.
- Beanie (2mm neoprene) — UK water 10-15°C, or open-water swim use where a hood is too restrictive. Maintains warmth without full head coverage.
- Thermo rash vest (under wetsuit) — adds an extra warmth layer under any wetsuit; also worn over the top in mid-summer for sun protection and chafe-prevention.

The Session Hood is the simplest way to extend your cold-water session length — heat loss through an uncovered head is significant, and a 2mm hood addresses it directly. Two sizes in stock (Medium and X-Large). If you do most of your cold-water paddling in deep winter (below 7°C), consider the Guru+ Hooded wetsuit instead (integrated hood, no neck gap) — but for paddlers using a standard 5/4/3 winter suit, a separate hood like this is the cost-effective answer. 01492 588001 for sizing.
