Product features

High-aspect parallel outline

Based on a teardrop outline, the Lightning range has a straighter parallel outline to maximise stability and efficiency.

Pin tail

Tracking and efficiency are two key aspects of the pin-tail design. The pin tail offers great tracking for catching bumps and fast, smooth take-off and minimal catch when touching the water.

Round boxy rails

Designed for ease of use in choppy conditions, these round yet boxy rails deliver superior stability and handling, ensuring a responsive spring for take-off.

Rocker

The rocker is fine-tuned for speed, spring and larger bumps. The rocker line has been tested in a range of conditions, from flatwater to large ocean swell, and is both lightning fast in take offs and forgiving in touchdowns.

Corduroy deck pad

Featuring a dual corduroy texture, the pad enhances board feel while delivering exceptional grip and comfort for every ride. The different orientation of the corduroy in the centre of the board allows you to feel where you stand.

Flat deck

The deck is kept flat to utilise the full width, offering more space and comfort from these narrow outlines.

Board sock included

Reduces paper waste and protects your board from dust, scratches and UV damage. Made of stretchable polyester, it fits various board shapes and has a secure drawstring closure.

Sizes

8'10" × 19" / 140 L

Rider weight (downwind SUP): up to 125 kg. For larger riders, the 8'10" × 19" has a generous 140 L of volume while still designed as a high-aspect-ratio model, offering striking downwind acceleration and rapid foil take-off.

8'4" × 19" / 122 L

Rider weight (downwind SUP): up to 110 kg. Featuring a high aspect ratio for speed while offering enough volume for most riders, the 8'4" blends generous volume in a fast design.

8'2" × 18" / 101 L

Rider weight (downwind SUP): up to 90 kg. A great option for longer downwinders. The narrow and longer shape is made for distance foiling, giving you fantastic speed in the air and acceleration onto foil.

7'6" × 17" / 87 L

Rider weight (downwind SUP): up to 80 kg. The 7'6" was Starboard's R&D testers' favourite model for downwinding and flatwater pumping on smaller foils.

7'5" × 15" / 83 L

Rider weight (downwind SUP): up to 75 kg. Starboard's narrowest, highest-spec board at 83 L, designed for ultra-fast acceleration with smaller, faster foils.

Constructions

ZERO — ultra-light hollow performance

ZERO is Starboard's lightest full carbon hollow construction. Its standout advantage is reduced swing weight: with less weight to control out front, the board feels a foot shorter through turns and when flying. The low weight also helps riders accelerate, lift onto foil earlier and stay flying with less effort. Refined through years of development, the latest ZERO construction improves stiffness and reliability while remaining exceptionally light.

The Ace Foil Lightning is Starboard's downwind-focused foilboard: ultra-narrow, long shapes built for fast acceleration and take-off. Starboard's guidance by rider weight is up to 125 kg on the 140 L, 110 kg on the 122 L, 90 kg on the 101 L, 80 kg on the 87 L and 75 kg on the 83 L. The 8'2" × 18" / 101 L is Starboard's pick for longer downwinders, and the 7'6" × 17" / 87 L was the favourite of their R&D testers for downwinding and flatwater pumping on smaller foils.
