Description
Starboard's TwinFin is the new addition to the 2026 surf SUP line — a fast, loose, skate-feel board with a pronounced hip behind the twin fins and a channel tail that boosts speed out of every turn. Built for paddlers who want effortless slides and tail breaks in small-to-medium surf but still want to charge in overhead conditions. 6 sizes from a 6'9" pro-shortboard up to a 9'0" big-rider all-rounder, in two constructions: the premium Acute Carbon and the value-priced Limited Series. Free UK postage.
Fast Lines, Free Slides
Experience a board engineered for speed and freedom. The TwinFin's unique shape, with a pronounced hip behind the fins, delivers dynamic, agile turns and a loose, skate-like ride that lets you carve high-line rail maneuvers effortlessly. Its innovative channel tail boosts acceleration and aids tail recovery during radical slides, keeping you in control on every wave. Whether you're tackling small, less-powerful surf or challenging overhead conditions, the TwinFin empowers intermediate surfers to push harder turns while offering advanced riders a high-performance, fluid ride.
Comparison to the Spice and Pro
The TwinFin is best for smaller, weaker waves, letting intermediate surfers perform more radically with less technique. It stays lively throughout the wave, generating easy speed and quick recoveries. Despite its small-wave focus, it can handle well overhead surf, pumping off the bottom and racing sections.
Compared to the Spice and Pro, the TwinFin is looser and unlocks speed faster. The Pro remains the high-performance choice in bigger, critical conditions, delivering top hold and control. The Spice offers versatility with quad or thruster setups, featuring bevelled rails for smooth rail-to-rail transitions and added hold. The TwinFin complements but doesn't replace either, appealing to those seeking relaxed lines, high-speed arcs, and tail slide turns.
Product features
Versatility across wave sizes
Surprisingly adaptable in overhead waves, the Twin Fin provides enough hold to pump off the bottom and boost off the lip. Ideal for intermediate surfers seeking easy speed or pros craving stylish performance.
Ultimate speed & flow
Enjoy fast down-the-line speed with reduced drag and a refined channel. The Twin Fin keeps you flowing even through weaker sections, linking maneuvers with ease and maintaining momentum.
Effortless turns & looser feel
A looser, "skatey" ride makes sharp pivots and tail slides second nature. The hip and moon tail create a natural pivot point, ensuring quick direction changes and smooth transitions.
Pronounced hip & moon tail
A subtle break behind the fins narrows the tail for crisp pivots, delivering a loose yet controlled feel for snappier turns.
Channel tail release
Generates lift and extra speed while broadening the sweet spot for both front- and back-foot surfers, aiding recovery and maneuver setups.
Fine rails to the tail
Boosts responsiveness and agility. Fuller nose rails help drive down the line, while thinner nose rails cut swing weight for faster rotations.
Domed or flatter decks
Smaller sizes feature a domed deck for sensitivity and thinner rails, while wider models have a flatter deck for added stability and comfort.
Twin fin setup
Two large fins minimize drag for faster rides, giving both solid hold and easy tail release. Add a nubster fin for extra control and bite in bigger surf.
Centre handles
On boards 8'3" and above, the larger IQ Handle is used for extra grip and comfort when carrying a bigger board. On boards 7'9" and below, a smaller handle is used to minimize standing on the handle and to suit a smaller board better. Both handles feature a double grip, allowing you to hold them from either side.
Sizes
6'9" × 24" / 70L
The 6'9" wowed Ben and Zane with unmatched speed and tail-blow ability. Fast, free, and loose, it's perfect for advanced riders up to 70kg who crave pushing the limits of control. From mushy waves to overhead, expect a fast ride.
7'3" × 26" / 85L
Fluid rail turns, spray-throwing cutbacks, and seamless transitions — the 7'3" highlights the Twin's performance. Ollie and Trev loved it at 80–85kg. This shape handles overhead Uluwatu yet rules the fun in smaller surf.
7'9" × 28" / 103L
Bali testing proved the 7'9" has impressive speed and wave-face agility, letting you flow effortlessly. Ideal for riders up to 95kg, its loose tail recovers quickly to link maneuvers. Fast lines, free slides — pure fun.
8'3" × 30" / 125L
Retro feel meets modern performance on the 8'3". Enjoy smooth acceleration, arching high-line turns, and a snappy fin release. Ideal up to 110kg, its subtle vee off the channel keeps flow seamless — a true twinfin blend of style and speed.
8'9" × 32" / 150L
"Fast, sexy, and super fun" — the 8'9" (150L) suits riders up to 120kg seeking stability with performance. Signed off by Pete Cox, it offers smooth carves, quick acceleration, and easy control — speed meets balance every session.
9'0" × 33" / 166L
At 166L, the 9'0" suits riders up to 130+kg, delivering surprising control despite its wide tail. It rides high, drives turns effortlessly, and gains speed without stepping back. From beach breaks to better setups, it's your fishy all-round go-to. Approved by Pete Cox.

Honest advice from us
The TwinFin is brand new for 2026 — Starboard's first surf SUP designed specifically around a twin-fin set-up. If you've been surfing the Spice or Pro and want something looser, more skatey, and easier to slide the tail on in smaller surf, this is your board. It's not a replacement for those — it's a complement.
Which size? The TwinFin sizing tracks your weight closely thanks to the volume range (70L at 6'9", up to 166L at 9'0"). As a rough guide: 6'9"/7'3" for confident riders sub-85kg chasing the looseness, 7'9" for riders to 95kg wanting flow, 8'3" is the workhorse for most UK paddlers up to 110kg, 8'9"/9'0" for heavier riders who want pro-feel performance with stability.
Which construction? Acute Carbon is the premium build — lighter, more responsive, with 25kg EPS core and 45° biaxial fibre for nearly twice the recoil speed of glass. Limited Series is the same shape with a heavier glass / Australian Pine build and Akulon Eco fin boxes, at roughly £800–£850 less per board.
