Stiff Carbon Mast At An Accessible Price
Product overview
The Mk II Carbon Mast is the entry point to carbon in the Armstrong lineup. Our original mast, re-engineered, delivers a stiff carbon mast at an accessible price. Built with a 15.8 mm section for a stable ride feel, it offers dependable stiffness and smooth control across a wide range of disciplines, making it ideal for everyday riding and riders stepping up into carbon.
Key features
15.8 mm carbon section. Stable ride feel, dependable stiffness, smooth control. Thicker section than the Performance Mk II (13.8 mm) and Performance-X (11.8 mm) — designed for stability and accessibility over absolute speed and efficiency.
Re-engineered original. Armstrong's original mast, refined for the new A+ System era. Same DNA, sharper execution.
Entry-tier carbon, premium build. The right step up from the Alloy mast range when you're ready for the stiffness and feedback of carbon without paying performance-mast money.
All-disciplines mast. Surf, wing, downwind — the Mk II Carbon handles everything competently. Sweet spot is intermediate riders riding across multiple disciplines.
Armstrong A+ System compatibility. Pairs with every Armstrong front foil, fuselage and stabiliser.
Length guide
655 mm. Shortest length — surf foiling specialists, learners, smaller riders, or anyone wanting tight manoeuvrability in shallow water.
725 mm. The compact all-rounder — surf focus with enough length for wing.
795 mm. The wing-foil sweet spot. Most common all-round choice for wing foilers.
865 mm. Longer length — downwind, heavier riders, bigger swell.

Honest advice from us
The Mk II Carbon is the mast we'd recommend for most riders stepping up from the Alloy range — it's the carbon entry point with proper Armstrong build quality. Where it fits in the trilogy:
- Mk II Carbon Mast (£809–£959) — this mast. Entry-tier carbon. 15.8 mm section.
- Performance Mk II Carbon Mast (£1,499–£1,639) — all-rounder. 13.8 mm, +30% bending / +20% torsional stiffness over Mk I. The do-it-all premium mast.
- Performance-X Carbon Mast (£2,139–£2,269) — specialist UHM 11.8 mm. Trades stiffness for efficiency — downwind / speed only.
Which length? 795 mm for wing foilers (the sweet spot). 655 or 725 for prone surf and compact setups. 865 for downwind or bigger riders.
Maximum lengths. Note: the Mk II Carbon only goes up to 865 mm — if you need 935 mm for max-length downwind, you need the Performance Mk II or Performance-X.

About Armstrong
Armstrong is a New Zealand foil company founded by Armie Armstrong, a pioneering windsurfer and watersports innovator. Armstrong's modular A+ System has set the industry standard for foil compatibility — front wings, masts, fuselages and stabilisers all interconnect across the Armstrong range, meaning riders can progress from S1 (Step 1) beginner foils through to HA (High Aspect) racing foils without replacing their mast or board fittings. Built in Thailand at Armstrong's own facility, designed in New Zealand, ridden by world-class athletes including Austin Tovey, Noah Flegel and Annie Reickert.
