The Shark SUPs Speed Plus 12'6 x 28" x 6" is engineered for heavier riders who want a board built for speed — whether for racing, cadence training, or fast long-distance paddling. The 28" width is the middle-ground race profile — stable enough to commit to without drifting too far from race performance — while the 6" thickness adds stiffness and buoyancy for paddlers above approximately 85kg where a 5"-thick board would be too low in the water and would flex more under load.
For heavier paddlers stepping into race paddling for the first time, this size delivers the right balance of speed, stability, and stiffness for confident first race seasons.

Construction
Built using high-density 1000-denier double-laminated woven drop stitch (Shark's DLW Weave Tech). High-performance carbon triple rail edge with welded rail technology runs the length of both rails. 3K carbon stringers run top and bottom, contributing to a 35% flex reduction — particularly important on a 6"-thick board where flex resistance matters most for heavier riders.
The patented 3K CFRP Carbon Nose Cone, flat (0%) rocker, and water release rail combine to deliver forward-motion precision and minimal drag.
Fin & cargo system
Smart-Tec click-in fin for fast changes, plus universal US fin box compatibility. Multi-use D-rings allow expansion of the cargo area for adventure touring use, with a kickpad at the tail for step-back turns.

Honest advice from us
Pick this 6" thickness if you're roughly 85kg or above, or if you simply want a stiffer board than the 5" version. If you're under 85kg you'll generally do better on the 5" thickness — it sits lower in the water and is faster for your weight. Between 28" width here and the 26" race width, choose 28" if you want more stability or are new to race paddling; choose 26" if you want maximum speed and have race confidence.
